I kissed Jana last night as we smiled and realized at midnight that we had made it another day and were able to get the second betamethasone shot. Yesterday was cheerful as Jana's stress was slightly relieved at hitting the 23 week milestone.
I had conference calls all day which helped my mind immensely. It really helps to have something to do to take your mind off of things.
About 4:30 am last night Jana's water broke. This time it was a lot more than we found with Reagan. We were hopeful at first that Jana's catheter just wasn't working, but it was just too much fluid. Right before Jana's strong contractions with Reagan she had a lot of thick blood and so far we haven't seen that.
Today we're trying to make it hour by hour and hope that betamethasone will act quickly on our babies. We just got done checking the heart beats and the babies are doing great. Baby B has moved down however from yesterday by the look of where the Doppler was placed on her stomach.
I went out of the room to get some more coffee and when I came back in I saw the NICU cart outside our room. This actually lifted my spirits. They will try everything possible to save our babies now and hopefully they are maturing fast enough to be able to be intobated and hooked up to the different life supporting machines.
And we wait........
Just stop...

I'm still here, still constantly praying for you all. I wish I could be there to support you. Don't ever give up, because God won't, your babies won't, and all the people who love you won't. xoxo
Having spent some time in NICU with Matthew and Lily, we can tell you from experience that there is not a more caring, supportive, and attentive group of doctors and nurses in any part of the hospital. You are right in thinking that they will do everything they can to help your angels grow up to be strong and beautiful just like their mother. Hang in there. Give Jana a big hug and kiss from her niece and nephews from Texas. Know that you, Jana, and the babies are in our constant thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and know that we are here if you need anything.
Love,
J, Betsy, Nolan, Matthew, and Lily
Jana,
Here are some comments from people in Childress who are praying for you!
Prayers go up....blessings come down! I love ya!
Ginger
The KP's are praying for you and your sweet babies!! Erik, Amanda, Kristen, Katy and David Kirkpatrick
Dear Pat and Jana,
Both of you and your babies are in my thoughts and prayers. Ginger keeps us updated and I am so proud that she does. I know it is alot easier for me to say keep being strong when I am not walking in your shoes. I just want to tell you that I, along with many others are praying faithfully and I know God answers prayers.
Love,
Karen Husband
Dear Pat and Jana,
You are in each of my prayers, knowing that Jesus' face is shining upon you. His peace is on that passes all understanding for what you're facing---you are surrounded with anxiety, doubt, and stress, but you are also face to face with Him, who is your peace. Focus on Him; you and the babies are safe. He will lift you!
My prayers,
Connie
Jana:
How I truly wish you lived so much closer so I could wrap my arms around you and Pat and of course, those babies!! I pray for you not daily but 6 or 7 times daily. I have always thought of you as a strong woman, so the things you have done and gone through to become a mom has yet to surprise me! I have nursed the bottle of Eucalyptus Spearmint lotion you gave me for Christmas the year we worked together so that when I need strength or a "kick in the butt" that only you could give me, I use it and think fondly of you. Pat is one lucky guy and I told you that a long time ago. I also told you that he was "the one". Man, how good it feels to be ooohhh so right on both accounts! Here's one more: those darling babies are sooo lucky to have you both as parents! I'll continue my prayers and you continue to fight! Lisa
Another thought from Childress...
Jana, You and your precious little girls have been in our prayers....daily. Your strength is unbelievable. You and Pat are such a witness to so many with the courage you are showing. First Baptist Church Childress is praying for you also. My prayer is that you will deliver perfectly healthy little girls in Gods Perfect Timing.....

We are praying that they hang in there a bit longer!! I am glad the NICU cart is ready and waiting!

Jana - My prayers and thoughts are never far from you and your family. I know how stressful this is for all of you. Modern medicine can work miracles as can God and all of our prayers. We love you!! Cyber hugs from Houston!!
Kristen
Jana - you and the babies are in my thoughts and prayers. Modern medicine IS amazing and rest assured that you are in a safe place and have great doctors that will do their best to care for your babies!
Jana and Pat, I shared this story with Ginger and she thought I should share it with you, so here goes...My sister-in-law delivered a little girl at 23 weeks; we could literally hold her in the palm of our hands. She was born in Altus, Oklahoma and immediately air-lifted to Children's Baptist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was touch and go for nearly 3 months...all the while only her mom and dad could hold her or even be near her. We would go to visit and look at our little angel through the glass. This May, that little angel is graduating from high school; a healthy, thriving, beautiful 18-year-old!! Think of the medical advances that have been made in these past 18 years!! So, hold on to your hopes and dreams, and 18 years from now as your daughters receive their high school diplomas, look back on these moments and smile. God is great.
Jana, i need you back at work to teach me how to work this blog comment thing :-)
The (not very desperate) housewives of johnson county miss you and we want some girlfriend time with you... but we know you are a little occupied down Quivira a little ways.
They don't call it the miracle of life for nothing; isn't it awesome to be part of such amazing miracles constantly occuring? You and Pat are the perfect expression of God's love flowing between you and through you and into the precious new lives you are nourishing. That is a beautiful gift for all of us to witness in and of itself.
So, keep your heads and your hearts going in the right direction. I pray that you will manifest exactly the right conditions to bring us two more little angels on earth. Of course you will, you are the mama and the papa extraordinaire and they didn't pick you and Pat to be their parents for nothing you know!! Both of you should try to take lots of naps - that's when the angels come to sprinkle healing dust on you :-)
Sending you an abundance of love and light,
Deb (next door)
Emery and I are sending you our love and prayers. The two of you are among the most amazing people we know. Your love for each other, and your faith in God is a true testament to how amazing you are. Hang in there.
Love,
Emery and Jena
