Since Emma has continued to have "average" days for awhile now, the doctors have scheduled her for surgery on Wednesday at 3 pm. The ultrasound of her abdomen showed that the pocket of fluid they've been watching seems to look smaller, and at this point they believe it is a hematoma, which is good news. These usually resolve themselves, and this could explain the reason she has needed so many platelet transfusions. We will try and keep everyone posted on how the surgery goes, but we won't be able to post until late tomorrow evening. I'm sure she will do great, but as for me, I'll be a wreck. It's hard to know that she has to go through all of this, and as her mommy, I can't make it better, or hold her and comfort her.
Little Miss Abby has kept her nurse, Colleen, rather busy the last couple of days. Because they've been trying to ween her on her ventilator, she has been up and down on her oxygen levels. She has had two spells today where she has needed manual breaths to help her get her levels up. Her blood gases help the docs to know what settings to change and if they should go up and down so they will continue to watch and see what needs to change.
It's important for us to let all of you know how much your love and support mean to us. The donations that have been made to our March for Babies walk have touched our hearts so deeply. We also can't imagine having to go through this with out the daily comments, cards, emails, etc. They give us strength. It's so wonderful to know that so many people out there care about our little girls. Our church has been an amazing source of comfort and love, and we know that God placed us within this congregation for a reason.

Sorry to be behind the eight ball a bit but I just found out about your struggles today. I'm reading your blog in a hotel room in Mississippi and hit my knees for you so you add another prayer to your count. I'll keep them coming - stay strong.
"Average" is highly underrated:) Praying with God's warriors for tomorrow.

We are checking the blog daily to check on your two little miracles and are encouraged to see how well they are doing. Our thoughts and prayers will definitely be with you tomorrow during Emma's surgery. Keep strong in your faith b/c God is definitely taking care of your sweet baby girls. We love you!!!

Prayers will be lifted for the doctors and nurses- may the Lord guide their hands and decisions. Prayers will continued to be said for both of your little ones- may God give them strength and health so that they may be examples of His awesome power. Prayers are offered for two of the world's most wonderful parents- may the Father comfort you.
I will be praying for both baby girls, and especially little Emma today @ 3pm.

sorry i haven't written in a while but i am constantly checking in here and praying for abby and emma always. special prayers are being sent up for the surgery today. God is amazing and will continue to bless the girls and strengthen them (and you!).
Thinking about you two, and praying especially for little Emma. Time is a funny thing, and I can't wait for this time to pass for all of you.
