The sermon at church on Sunday was about being blessed. It's hard to except sometimes that we are blessed when many of us struggle financially, socially, emotionally, or physically, and I know that there were a couple of weeks there in the hospital that I felt anything but blessed. Sunday's sermon reminded me that no matter my struggles, I am blessed.
Through the journey of becoming a mom, I have been touched and blessed by the people who have always been in our lives, those who have come into our lives, and by the people who have come back into our lives. I am blessed to have neighbors who have helped us by mowing our lawn, checking on Bella, and by the neighbors who brought flowers by to celebrate my first Mother's Day. I am blessed by friends who have brought yummy dinners to help relieve the chore of cooking. I am blessed by family who helps keep the house clean, does the laundry and ironing, cooks, and entertains Bella when they are here. I am blessed to have a church family who cares so much about us and the girls. I am blessed by friends who send cards to remind us that they are thinking of us and praying for the girls. I am blessed to have a husband who loves me and understands my ever changing emotions through all of this. I am blessed by the wonderful and loving nurses who ask to take care of my beautiful girls everyday and by the doctors, NNPs, and RTs who have made such a difference in their lives. I am blessed by getting to meet some wonderful parents in the NICU who make life a little more bearable. I am blessed by the many people who continue to read our blog and inspire us through their comments.
The girls are continuing to show improvements every day. Emma has finally had a poopie diaper, and we couldn't be more thankful. She is up to 4 mL on her Pedialyte, and I am hoping that soon she will get a little milk. We give her a little sponge with milk on it every 8 hours, and she really seems to enjoy these. Abby is getting weaned on the CPAP. She started out with a pressure of 8 and is now down to 6. Her O2 needs are also down to somewhere in the 30's. She continues to enjoy her feedings.

The blogs are just getting better each day...it is so wonderful to hear that the girls are doing so well..I can imagine how rewarding it is to be able to actually hold those little princesses and watch them develop..It is so true that you (and all of your support group) are truly blessed. I am very convinced that prayer and faith is so important...and thanksgiving. Also important, in my opinion, is a positive attitude that everything will be okay. I am so happy to watch the progress of growth and development thru the pictures..they are becoming real little individuals. I can only say that I think you and Pat are very sincere and caring and altho I have never met either of you, I am so proud to have you as cousins. Fondly, Vonnie
It is amazing how much have the girls grown in the last weeks. I am thrilled about their progress. They are true fighters just like their parents.
You have inspired me today. I will also count my blessings.
Love!
Your comments on your blog are always so touching but today.... you had me in tears! I always knew you were such a great person and friend back in college and I really think it was god that must have helped me find you. You talk about being blessed...I am the one that is blessed to know you. I am so happy the girls are doing so wonderful and they are lucky to have you as a mother. Stay strong and I will continue to pray for you all.
I love the picture! Faith is what let's us see all the blessings in our life when we face obstacles!
For all the blessings you have in your life, you, Pat and the girls are blessings to others. Your blog is such a blessing to me because I can see the work of the Lord in your life and the girls and it makes me so thankful we serve such an awesome, amazing and loving God!
Like the saying goes, "When I count my blessings, I count you twice!"
Love you!
