34 Weeks

When I walked into Abby's room today there was a big surprise. She had been moved into a crib. We had been waiting for this to happen, but had been getting told that they wanted her to stay in the isolette as long as possible because when they are in an open crib they have to use more calories to keep their body warm. They like their temps to stay between 36.4C and 37.2C. Abby was at 37.2 with a onesie on while being swaddled. The unwrapped her but her temp stayed the same. They even turned the isolette to 26C (room temp is 27C). They called the nurse practitioner, and they agreed to moving her into a crib. She is also weighing in at 3 lbs 8 1/2 oz.

Emma is doing great also. They changed her feedings up late this afternoon. Instead of feeding her every 4 hours she is now being feed every 3. She is a pooping machine and has little coming out of her drains. I honestly don't know what that tells us about her tummy. They did an ultrasound of her liver yesterday due to her direct bilirubin being high, but the test showed no abnormalities. The docs figured it was due to her lack in oral foods, but just wanted to rule anything else out. The pediatric surgeon is supposed to be dropping by sometime this week, so I guess will know more then. Emma's weight is up to 3 lbs 6 oz.

It's hard to imagine that these girls are still supposed to be in utero. The nursed keep reminding us that we will have to adjust their age for sometime. I am just in awe of these two little girls.

It will be so hard to keep your hands off of that little beauty now that you can hold her anytime you want to! I just about cried as I walked past your room today!! Emma won't be far behind and it will just be a cuddle-fest in your suite! What a wonderful day for you all...I know how long you have waited for that to happen. :) Love, Corinne

I read this and wanted to cry, but only tears of joy! These two little girls have been prayed for by so many people out there...all over the entire country...even by complete strangers! God is so awesome and I know Emma and Abigail are going to continue to have "average" days! Before long, they will be home! WOW!

I'm off to go to bed, but will stop and say a special prayer for Emma, Abigail, you and Pat. May the Lord continue to bless the four of you! I know He has blessed me just by knowing you!

Love you!

Way to go girls! I cannot wait to read you the book I sent! Hugs and Kisses!

The girls seem to be doing great! I am so happy for you guys! I was wondering how you adjust their age for that...it seems unfair to allow things to be ruled by their birthdays b/c they are still supposed to be in utero...its an interesting thought. But, they will surprise you at every chance!!!

What good news on your last blog..I imagine that Abby is in your arms most of time now..and why not, you certainly have waited long enough to enjoy her to the utmost. And soon, Emma will be right along with her..let the celebrations begin! As for the age adjustment...regardless they will be and are the calendar age figured from date of birth. Sure maybe they will be smaller in comparison but it won't take them long to catch up to the others. Before long you won't even think of it except in thanks that they are with you. Regardless of size, I'll bet they will be the leaders of their classes..they are definitely survivors. Thank you God. Fondly,
Vonnie

I think of you often and very much enjoy reading your blog to see how Abby and Emma are doing! Your girls are beautiful and they are growing SO much! I would love to come up and visit in the NICU sometime when you are both there.
You all remain in my prayers!
Warmly,
Nurse Kelsey :)
