Barium enema

Abby has been doing great and is now at 3 lbs. 15 oz. She's closing in on 4 lbs! At that weight she'll finally be big enough to fit in some car seats! She's up to 32 ml per feeding and they've decreased the amount of supplemental calories she's been getting because she's growing so well.

Emma is still tolerating her feeds and she is now up to 17ml per feeding every 3 hours. Emma hasn't been having very much come out of her drains the last week, just some greeninsh fluid and the dr's wanted to check everything out before they removed her pemrose drains. So they gave her a barium enema. Right after the procedure they took an xray to see if the barium stayed in her bowels or leaked out into her stomach cavity. Good news. All of the barium was contained in her intestines. They are going to gavage her with barium next to make sure that there is no leakage from the esophagus down to her small intestine. We are praying that our little Emma has healed her perforation naturally and will not require surgery. She' up to 3 lbs. 6 oz. now.

Nurse kelsey, you can come up anytime to see the girls. Typically we are there together around noon or after five pm.
