Thanks for all the prayers, but the surgery was cancelled. In no way are Pat and I upset or disappointed. Emma let the docs know that she just wasn't ready, and we are so thankful that they listened. The day just didn't seem to be going smoothly. She was scheduled for 2:00 and it got moved up to 1:00 due to the surgeon having an emergency surgery somewhere else. I was holding her before they reintubated her, and her heart rate dropped from 140 to 76. That is really unusual for Emma, and it set my mind to thinking something wasn't right. After they intubated her, they checked her sugar level and the number had increased. They rechecked it a little later and it was still going up. High sugars are a sign of stress. They also were taking her blood pressure, and it was low. They did get a good one, but we think it was due to the fact that they had just stuck her for the blood sugar test. They finally got her down to surgery, and once they got some anesthesia on board, her blood pressure dropped. The surgeon and anesthesiologist both agreed that she was enduring too much stress and surgery would only cause more. They decided to cancel the surgery and put it off until next week. We are so thankful that they put Emma's well being ahead of anything else.
Abby passed her car seat test today so we will be rooming in with her tomorrow night. Antepartum is full so we may just be staying in Abby's room for the night. We don't really mind since we will be right there with Emma as well.
Just stop...

I was surprised to read about Emma but I, too, am very glad that the doctors took such serious care and consideration of her condition today. It shouldn't surprise any of us that her little body is just worn out after everything she has gone thru. I am glad you will be with both the girls tonight...maybe you can sneak Emma out of bed and just cuddle her for a while..I am sure she will feel the bond between you and Pat and some of the stress will disappear. It just might be a sign..who knows but God. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers tonite and I will check again tomorrow. Fondly, Vonnie
Continued prayers. So thankful that the doctors are taking such good care of Emma. Hope you enjoy your "sleepover."
We are so glad that the dr.'s are looking out for Emma's well being and we continue to pray for her healing and growth. We are very excited for your room in with Little Miss Abby (she is bigger than Will was when we brought him home). I hope you get more rest than I did the night we did our room in!!! Enjoy your well deserved homecoming!!!
Looks like Emma was trying to tell the doctors something! I know you are anxiously awaiting every new step the girls take to coming home. The Lord knows that in His time, the four of you will be snuggling together at home! You are in my thoughts and prayers all the time. I cannot wait until the day I get to meet these two awesome little girls!
Hello friends,
Emma is such a strong fighter and a smart cookie! Your docs are great waiting for her to stabilize.
I am very excited for Abby's homecoming! It will such a special and memorable moment for you as a family. Please share pics with us.
As for their eyes and ears, I will be constantly praying. Also, for Emma's surgery.
I know your plate is pretty full, but I am daring to ask you for some prayers for myself: I am cycling again and waiting for my ET. Last time is more than a year-ago !
Pat and Jenna, success is not about having an easy ride but more about how we handle and overcome the tough moments.
Mucho amor!
