I never thought tomorrow would come, and I never imagined how hard it would be. Abby is finally graduating from the NICU and coming home. It's a day that we have looked forward to with great excitement. I can't wait to have her home with us, but I know it will be so hard to walk out that door tomorrow and know that Emma isn't coming with us right now. It's always hard to walk out those doors at the end of every day, but it always made me feel better to know that they were there together. They weren't alone. I know it's a silly thought, but you do what you can to get through it. The nurses have told me that they will put a crib in Emma's room so Abby will have somewhere to sleep when we are there. That will help make the visits a little easier.
Emma has yet another infection. When they pulled her old PICC line out, they tested it and found that yeast was growing on the end of it. They did two more blood cultures, two fungal cultures, an urine culture, and ummm I think that's it to see if the yeast is growing in her blood. One of the blood draws was out of her new PICC line. If it comes back positive they will have to pull it out and do peripheral IVs. We really hope that isn't the case since that will require a lot of sticks to such a tiny body. They went ahead and put her on Diflucan, and we will know more tomorrow. We continue to keep our fingers crossed!!!
We know that many of you are eager to meet our little ones, but we ask that everyone please be patient as we get into a new routine and as Abby gets adapted to a new environment. For know we hope you all understand that we won't be opening our home to visitors for sometime. We are very protective of them because their immune systems are very compromised due to being so premature.
Just stop...

Oh Happy Day!!!!!
YEAH! Home at last!! Thanks for the precious pictures. The girls are so pretty. Yes, just continue to insist that you have NO visitors. My preemie grandsons were born in October and it was after the RSV season in the spring (May, if I remember correctly) before they had any visitors except very close family who were there to help out. You two may get cabin fever, just work out a way that you can each leave once in a while. I'll be praying for all four of you and especially for little Emma.
I'm so excited for you guys to get little Abby home!!! It's so exciting, scary and sad at the same time...sad to be leaving one behind. We had to leave one in the NICU for almost three months after our first came home...it was very hard, but it was also good because we could get one into a routine before the next one came home. And YES, don't feel bad about keeping visitors away!!!!
