Putting the Plumbing Back Together

The pediatric surgeon is coming tomorrow to assess Emma. As of right now she is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday afternoon. We knew that when she was up to full feeds a decision would be made whether to go ahead with surgery or put it off for awhile if she was growing. Since she is continuing to lose weight, they feel the best thing for her is to reconnect her bowels. We are hopeful that this will put an end to her tummy issues and get her on the road homeward. She is spending a majority of the day awake so tomorrow I am taking her bouncy seat (courtesy of the neighbor ladies) to the hospital for her to enjoy.

Abby is doing well and the doctor wrote a new order for her. She is allowed to eat every 2 to 4 hours with no maximum or minimum amount as long as she is gaining weight. I'm not sure what we are waiting on for her to be sent home, but no hurry. They will send her home when she's ready. The girls will have their eyes examined once again this week to see how their retinopathy has progressed. We are hopeful that their eyes have improved, and the girls won't have to go through the laser surgery. Fingers crossed!!

Jana, I am a friend of your Mom's in Archer City. I read your blog regularly and keep up with your little girls great progress! When I read your post about their eyes, I called Diana. I have a friend who is married to the world's expert on retinopothy in premies. He has written hundreds of articles on the subject, and travels the world training doctors in this subject.

I emailed my friend this morning and mentioned your girls, and she replied with some very good information that I would like to share with you. Your mom wasn't sure of your email address, but if you will email me at jd.aggie95@yahoo.com I will send you this information. Feel free to also call me at 940-631-4658.

Good luck & continued prayers!

I bet she'll like the jumpy seat. Thanks for the update so we know prayer specifics for the girls. They are such cuties.

It is so good that they are going to fix Emma"s "plumbing"..I hope that will be the last surgery she will need..she certainly has had enough to last her lifetime. I have been concerned about their eyes and wondering if you know anything..it was good news to know you are on guard about them. Already a bouncing seat--what a giant step..another sign of a giant step forward. I am so happy for all of you and will continue to pray. Fondly, Vonnie
