Day 14 update

Abigail is doing great, and her weight is now up to 510 grams. Jana and I were able to do Kangaroo care yesterday evening. Jana held Emma on her chest and I held Abigail on mine. Emma was squirmy and moving all over the place, but Abigail was pretty calm. This was an awesome experience for both of us. Finally feeling close to our lil angels and being able to feel their breathing against us was just what we needed. My body heat was increasing trying to keep Abigail as warm as possible. We look forward to being able to do it again. I can't wait!

Emma's heart murmur has not quieted down after the medication. It is still yet to be determined by an echo cardiogram of her heart but the doctors are going to get her set up for heart surgery probably Tuesday or Wednesday depending on what the echo shows. For the surgery they will make an incision on the left side of her back and dissect down to the main artery running through her body and then put a clip on the duct. That clip will stay with her for the rest of her life. This is procedure that is done often and they have a cardio specialist from Olathe medical performing the procedure.

Obviously it is nerve racking to know that you're daughter at the age of 2 weeks is going to have heart surgery. When they are successful however, we are very hopeful that this will help Emma turn the corner and help her lungs and her digestive system.

We have not been able to do the Kangaroo Care as of yet. I read your blog and was so happy for the two of you. I am sure that was a precious moment. I remember the first time I was able to touch the sweet little angels...what a gift! I can't imagine what it will be like holding them for the first time. God Bless you, Pat, and the babies!!!
