Scheduled for Surgery

It seemed all was going well with Emma this week. She had been taken off all oxygen support. This means she is breathing all on her own. What a big girl!! The barium enema was showing there was no issue, but once they did the oral contrast, it was a different story. It seems that we are headed for surgery on Friday. The contrast showed that the problem is somewhere in the small intestine. Since this is major surgery she will have to be reintubated, and they will take her to the big people OR to do this surgery. At this point I'm a wreck emotionally. I just don't want my sweet little girl to endure the pain of another surgery. I'll try to post when I can after her surgery, but please have patience. It's a difficult time for us.

Am starting to pray for Emma and you and Patrick right this very minute and will be doing so frequently in these next days. I know this is a difficult time for you all, but will appreciate any updates and specific prayer requests. May God grant you his peace and comfort in these days.

When you come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.

I'm sorry she has to go through more surgery. I'll be praying for your sweet little Emma and for both you and Patrick. Don't worry at all about us...we'll be here whenever you post. Hugs.

I prayed for the doctors that will be operating on Emma today. Also, I prayed for comfort for you and Pat. I can't even imagine the concerns and fears you are feeling. As always, I prayed for your little sweethearts.

Although we love your post, we understand where your priorities are.

May God be with you all.

I don't expect a blog each day...I am so aware of your worries and how much you have on your minds but I do want to say I hope that Emma's surgery was successful and that she will be back on tract soon. Oh how proud your great-grandma, Alaline would be of both of you..the way you are handling it all. Pat I think you have some of her courage and determined ways to be so strong...and Jena, believe me that strength is catching! Rest assured that the Mies and Nolan clan are being very vocal when approaching God directly in Heaven and asking for his attention and help for all of you. My prayers always...Fondly, Vonnie

Hey there. I remember a doctor or nurse once telling me that the parents are just as important in the healing process as any medication our babies receive. You and Patrick are a large reason why your girls continue to amaze us all. I know your daughters are having even sweeter dreams tonight because you are by their side. What an amazing mother you are. Let me know if you need some Starbucks in the morning! Love you! Corinne
