As many of you may remember in one of my previous post I commented on how homecoming had a special place in our hearts. For those of you who don't remember that post, homecoming is special to us because our first date was to a homecoming football game. Our second date was roller skating, but that's a whole different story. Now, homecoming is even more meaningful to us since the girls have both finally come home. I have an amazing friend in Childress, TX who I feel was brought into my life to change it in so many ways. She is such a beautiful person inside and out. Many of you may know her as Ginger. It's so hard to describe her in just a few words. There are just so many.....giving, loyal, loving, happy, funny, determined, fearless, creative, honest, never met a stranger, committed, mom, friend....I could go on but you get the drift. She's just awesome. The other day I received in the mail a package from her. In the box were two Childress mums for the girls' homecoming. It meant so much to us. Of course I cried because they are just so symbolic of where we've been the past 6 months. Ginger, you know we love you. While I only spent 2 years in Childress, I know that there have been many people there who have kept up with our story and sent prayers up for us. One of those is my past (didn't want to say old) principal, Marsha. Along our journey she has sent cards to the girls, and in the box with the mums she sent each of the girls an adorable outfit. Our hope is one day to make a stop in Childress to let everyone personally meet the two little wonders they prayed so hard for.
Here are a couple of pics of the girls wearing their mums. I didn't realize until after that I had put them on the wrong girl.

Mommy finally got it right

The girls are doing well. At the moment they are sleeping, but that won't last long since they are due to eat. This week should be our last visit with home health...darn. I love that they come in and weigh the girls for us each week. It's nice to see that they are growing. I took Emma in to the pediatrician last week because of some small knots on her neck. They are lymph nodes, and the doc wasn't worried about them. She just said that her body is doing exactly what it should be....fighting something. Ummmm, not sure I like the fact that's a good thing, but I'm not a doctor. She did start Emma on some reflux medicine, which seems to work from 8-5, but not after that. They suggested we break the dosage up between the am and pm. Hopefully that will work. Emma is weighing in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. as of last Friday. In the 3 weeks she's been home she's gained about a pound. Woohoo!! Abby is doing great as well. She weighed in last week at 8 lb. 10 oz. I'm hoping she hits the 9 lb mark this week. She is such a mellow baby and waits patiently for me to feed Emma until it's her turn. She has recently started to make the funniest faces. She is smiling more often, and I think on the verge of a little laugh. She was sleeping the other day and made what I would classify as a giggle.
The occupational therapist is coming out once every two weeks to work with the girls and check their development. She is very pleased with the strides that both girls are making. She couldn't believe that they both are rolling from tummy to back already. I do have to be better about working with Emma at turning her head both directions. She will do it on her own, but she really favors her right side. We also keep a close eye on Emma's left side due to the Cat 4 bleed she had, but at this point there still aren't any signs of a problem yet. Abby is gaining good control of her head and is working on strengthening her muscles to prepare her for sitting up. We have to remind ourselves that while they are almost 6 months in reality they are only about 2 months.
Gotta go....I hear my girls calling for mommy

jana...please excuse my typing as i am doing it with one hand tonight...baby jude is in the other :) you know how that goes!! i just sat and cried while reading your last two posts and seeing the beautiful pics of the girls. i can remember all too vividly how fragile and teeny they once were and now look at them. i believe in miracles and i know you do too. love you, corinne
I had to wait until I quit crying to write a response! WOW! Your words are too kind! The pictures of the girls wearing their mums is precious! I am so thankful the Lord brought you and Pat to Childress when He did. He knew what he was doing!
I don't know that I can live up to the things you said about me, but one thing is for sure....I would do anything in the world for you and will always hold a special place in my heart for one of the best friends I've ever had! Words cannot express how happy I am for you, Pat, Emma and Abigail. I love you lots and cannot wait to meet these sweet little angels who have been such a wonderful reminder of the power of prayer and never losing faith! LOVE YOU!
Jana,
Do you not feed the girls at the same time (I'm assuming you are B/Fing)????
I'm going to TRY, and wondered what you were doing....
Hugs,
Dre
The girls are just beautiful Jana!! I love the pictures and yes, we had to break up Kayla's reflux medicines to twice a day also to help her last longer. I hope that it is working and you are able to get a little rest! Keep up the GREAT work!!
Not that I'm a doctor, but I would say the girls are doing FANTASTIC. That is incredible they are rolling over so freely already. Like you said, even thought they are 6 months old, they really should only be 2 months old. Holt did not start rolling over till he was 5 months, so I would say they are way on top of thei game!!!
Happy 6 Month Birthday Abby & Emma!!
Love, Tara, Craig & Holt
I just love to read your updates and hear how wonderful the girls are doing!! And they could not possibly be any cuter if they tried! Glad to hear you and Pat are adjusting well to this hectic beautiful life.
